History of LDStorymakers

LDStorymakers, an online e-mail group, was the brain child of best-selling author Rachel Ann Nunes. Established in 2002 and originally called Small Press Writers, the group was designed as an internet home for published writers who were associated with small, regional publishers, particularly those associated with the LDS (Mormon) market. From the comfort of their own homes, writers could offer help and seek advice from each other, polish their writing skills, and socialize with other published authors who knew the ropes.

In six months we had grown to twenty members representing a wide variety of experience, genres, and market savvy. We were small, but we spanned the world, reaching as far as New Zealand and encompassing a potpourri of talent and lifestyles.

In the fall of 2003, we changed the name of the group to LDStorymakers to reflect our religious affiliation and the high ethical values we each strive to associate with our writing.

After just one year, LDStorymakers has grown from a gaggle of strangers who knew very little about each other, to a gathering place for friends. Membership is by invitation only, to previously published authors, to keep the group small, to maintain the "family" feel, and to give existing members ample opportunity to get to know our new associates.
